Porn as Art

I was talking to my uncle the other day. Apparently when the '70s porno Deep Throat came out, it was playing in legit arthouse movie theaters all over the world. Debbie Does Dallas was popular enough and has enough of a plot that they turned it into an off-Broadway musical. (My boyfriend has the cast album. It's really funny.)

So why is straight porn sometimes accepted as art and not gay porn?

So, here's what I'm thinking. Let's produce a gay porno feature (shooting either on film or feature-quality digital, not on my crappy video camera) with a plot and enough pretentious "arty" elements that we call tell people it's not porn, it's an art film. And then see if we can get it in the film festivals and in the theaters.

Anyone want to invest a couple hundred thousand dollars? I can make it happen if I just have the money...
